This award winning community orchestra, celebrating 76 seasons of great music invites musicians, both amateur and professional, interested in auditioning to contact the orchestra's . The season consists of five subscriptions concerts and a family concert. Rehearsals are Wednesday evening from 7:30 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. and are held at Concordia University in River Forest. Concerts are at First United Church, 848 Lake Street, Oak Park, except for the Family concert which is held at the Oak Park River Forest High School Auditorium at 201 North Scoville in Oak Park and are performed on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 PM.
As a not-for-profit organization, volunteers are the backbone of the organization. Volunteering is a wonderful way of donating a portion of your time and your expertise to give back to your community. As a volunteer you will be behind the scenes and experience the day to day operations and be a part of a vibrant arts organization. Your volunteering can make an important contribution. Concerto Competition November 7, 2009
The Symphony of OP&RF is currently accepting applications for its annual concerto competition for which the winner plays at our Family Concert on January 10, 2010.
Applications can be dropped off at 819 N. Euclid, OP, IL 60302 or mailed to the Symphony of Oak Park & River Forest, PO Box 3564, OP, IL 60303-3564. Please include the $25 application fee and a cassette tape or CD of 5-10 minutes of your playing. Applications are due 10/31/09.
~ Auditions are held in Kretzmann Hall at Concordia University.
~ All participants must provide their own accompanist.
~ Please wear concert black for this opportunity.
~ You must live within ten miles of Oak Park, IL and have not yet completed your senior year of high school by November 7, 2009.
